Manhole Shutter -1800mm
Manhole Shutter -1800mm
Manhole shutters are made for the purpose of concrete manhole rings. They are used temporarily to form a circular framework when casting a concrete manhole ring.
Manhole shutters come in a variety of heights ranging from 900mm to 2400mm. The utilization chart below shows the sizes and weights that are required.
Please be aware that this item is manufactured to order and would be 5-7 days from order to delivery.

Usage
- Protective gloves should be used at all times when handling the manhole shutters.
- The manhole shutters are flexible and so therefore need to be stacked appropriately.
- Each manhole shutter comes with 2 lifting lugs.
- Once assembled panels should be lifted by the use of chains only.
- Panels should not be stacked one on top of the other to gain height.
Assembly
- All panels should be free from concrete and come with 4No. pins and wedges attached, per panel
- Each shutter should be made using the correct number of panels, refer to utilisation chart
- A pin should be inserted through each hole, then after inserting the wedge into each pin slot.
- Ensure all pins/wedges are in place
- To secure the position of the pins/wedges, tap the wedge with a hammer.
NB: For sizes of 2400mm and larger, it is recommended that supports are provided for the joints. This can be done by propping, or banding the assembly with straps.
Care should also be taken with the rate of pour as high rates considerably increase the loads on the pins and wedges.
Dimensions are based on rings made to BS 5911, and the number of sections give a minimum cover of 150mm.
